Original Submission Checklist

This checklist is for new (first-time) submissions to Computational Linguistics. Please go through every item before you submit.

CL uses single-blind review. Authors' names and affiliations must appear on the first page of the manuscript. Reviewers will know who the authors are; authors will not know who the reviewers are.

1. Prepare your manuscript

  • Submit the paper as a single-spaced PDF, formatted with the CL style files below (do not use the manuscript option, which produces double spacing).
  • Include all authors' names and affiliations on the first page, as shown in the template.

2. Prepare a cover letter

Upload the cover letter as a separate file (file type "Cover.Letter"). It should include:

  1. the submission type and a brief statement of the main contributions;
  2. 3–6 keywords describing the work (also entered in the keywords field of the submission form);
  3. the potential impact of the work on the CL/NLP community and beyond, and why Computational Linguistics, as the central forum of the CL/NLP community, is the right venue for it;
  4. prior or concurrent work similar to or overlapping with this manuscript, how this submission differs and, for an extended conference paper, what is new.

Comments for the Editor: use this field in the submission form for information intended for the editors only and not to be shared with reviewers, e.g., if the manuscript was previously declined elsewhere (e.g., at an *ACL conference, ACL Rolling Review, another journal, or a venue such as ICLR): a summary of the changes made in response to the earlier reviews, the reviews received and a link to the previous version (or a copy on request). Otherwise, it may be left empty.

3. Submit in OJS

  1. Log in, or create a profile if you don't have one.
  2. Contributors: enter every author's full name (first and last name, no initials), affiliation and email address, matching the manuscript.
  3. Upload the manuscript PDF and the cover letter, enter the keywords, and complete the submission.
Submission declaration. By submitting, the corresponding author confirms on behalf of all authors that the submission meets every item of the Submission Preparation Checklist (dual submission, prior publications, authorship, generative AI, research ethics, data and licenses, competing interests, copyright, etc.). Please read it before you submit.
